Tsumami Zaiku Activity in Indonesia

Hello from Jakarta, Indonesia! My name is Pricilla, one of ITA Certified Teacher.
Today I’d like to share with you my market boothing experience.

Last week on the 25 – 27 of April, I was invited to exhibit my Tsumami Zaiku creations with Lokal Indonesia. Lokal Indonesia is a group of passionate crafters; some of them work on leathers, fabrics, traditional foods, and many more. I have been proudly working with these positive people since 2020.

As usual I brought with me the best and latest Tsumami Zaiku creations to display, but I didn’t know I was in for surprises. On the first day a customer came all the way from Bandung, a different city 150km away from Jakarta just to see the Tsumami Zaiku, I was deeply touched. Turns out she has been following our social media since 2022!

On the second day I met another Tsumami Zaiku artisan, she is Japanese and we met on the last Lokal Indonesia market too. She made tropical fruit shaped Tsumami Zaiku, well isn’t that something else! We had a chat, and it was always fun to meet with someone with the same hobby.

On the last day, we did a little fun collaboration with Peerly Handmade, a doll crafter.

Peerly brought a massive doll to the market, but she is missing a hairpiece, so I lent her the largest kanzashi I had at the time.

We tried to take a picture of the doll, but it was so big and couldn’t sit on its own. Seeing how troubled we were, other tenants joined to help and we did it!

Not all market community are as friendly as Lokal Indonesia, most of the time it was competitive, so I’m really glad that I can be a part of this community, a place where we can share our passion and appreciate each other. Thank you for reading this newsletter!
